FAQ

Here are some answers to Frequently Asked Questions.

What conditions do you treat?

We specialize in both orthopedic and pelvic physical therapy. Some examples of commonly treated conditions:

Orthopedic injuries (shoulder, knee, back, neck pain, etc.)

Pre- and post-natal care

Pelvic floor dysfunction (e.g., incontinence, pelvic pain, prolapse, constipation)

Chronic pain (e.g. pelvic, neck/back, hip, shoulder)

Return to sport/performance

What does “out-of-network” mean?

Our practice is considered out-of-network with all insurance providers. This means we do not bill your insurance company directly. Instead, you pay at the time of service, and we provide a detailed receipt (called a superbill) that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes! We offer telehealth physical therapy for residents of Minnesota and Wisconsin. These sessions are conducted via a secure video platform and are billed at the same rate as in-person visits.

Do I need a physician referral?

You don’t need a referral! Minnesota is considered a “direct access” state, which means that you have the right to seek treatment from a licensed physical therapist without a prescription or referral from another healthcare provider. Having a referral may be necessary for submitting your services for reimbursement. Direct access is limited to a period of up to 90 days. If you need treatment beyond this we’ll make sure that you’re covered!

Do you accept my HSA/FSA card?

Absolutely! Physical therapy is an eligible reimbursable service for Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA.)

Where are you located?

We are conveniently located at River Valley Athletic Club within their Salon and Spa. You deserve a space that is designed for healing and building resilience. Your personal health goals will be addressed and discussed within a private treatment room while also having access to all facilities the gym has to offer. Additionally, there are childcare day services available at RVAC at an affordable price.

I've already seen a Physical Therapist. Can you help?

Yes, we often treat people that are still experiencing symptoms despite going to a past PT. We offer a unique perspective and will spend 60 minutes with you at each appointment to ensure you receive the best possible care. Getting a new perspective can be valuable to analyze any gaps within your past care, and reestablish an updated plan to meet your goals.

Do I need an internal assessment?

Internal assessments are performed by a pelvic physical therapist as an evaluative tool to gather information or as a treatment. This is only performed with patient consent and if necessary. There are many people that do not need or want an internal assessment.
